REGISTRATION PACKET FOR 2023-2024
Deadline is June 3, 2023 for registration submission.
On April 27th we celebrated the many accomplishments of our extraordinary High School Seniors that have been a part of our T.A.L.L. Leadership Academy for 2020-2021 school year. The graduation ceremony included our President and Executive Committee, Students, Parents, their Principals and Counselors, as well as the many Business Partners that participated in mentoring our students. Each student received a $1,500 scholarship and was presented with a gift from the Mayor. This year our students were able to attend workshops, take field trips touring different manufacturing facilities, Zoom with Mayor Sandy Stimpson, and tour the Court House to learn more about our local judicial system. Thank you to the many Partners who were strategic in planning this year’s events, and who donated their time and finances to make this year a success.
Thank you to our TALL students for all of your work this year. We congratulate you and offer best wishes for a successful future in whatever avenue you pursue!
Elizabeth Bryson, Jakobie Forrest, Katelyn Nicole Johnson, Kennedy McCaskey, Grace Overstreet, Carson Rose, and Anne Morgan Swearingen
Students and family were welcomed to the Chamber for a celebration of accomplishment on May 21st. Our Executive Board was present and awarded each of our seven T.A.L.L students with a $1500.00 scholarship from the Chamber Foundation for participation and excellence during the 2019-2020 Academic School year. This is our 7th year with the T.A.L.L. program and we are extremely proud of these students and the impact this program is having!
Consider making a donation to the Chamber Foundation on behalf of this program. We would love to continue to see growth in the scholarship amount as well as the value it brings to the students who are selected to participate!
Promoting Tomorrow’s Future
The T.A.L.L. Leadership program was created 8 years ago and has been a success throughout the community. The students are given the opportunity to visit the Mayor while attending council meetings and pre-council meetings. They also attend lectures hosted by local business men and woman in our area while receiving instructional education with insight of day to day practices of how to run a business successfully. They tour industrial plants, career centers, local schools and find time to volunteer and help host events sponsored by the chamber. Each student has a 4.0 or above GPA, is very deserving of participating in our program, and has excelled in the class room and on the field as athletes. Since its inception, the chamber has given away over $50,000 in scholarships to our T.A.L.L. students. Each scholarship totals $1,500 and is given to every student that completes the program. This program has been funded by grants and fundraising efforts of SouthWest Mobile County Chamber of Commerce. As in previous years, we are looking to our sponsors in the community to assist funding these scholarships. We would like to give you the opportunity to sponsor a student this year. There is an opportunity to make this sponsorship in memory of a loved one or in honor of a business person, family or friend. If you or your business would like to take part in a sponsorship please contact Tina Poiroux at the Chamber Office (251) 666-2846.
