JOB DESCRIPTION:

A skilled Maintenance worker to perform upkeep tasks such as repairs and cleaning. Responsible for applying basic fixes to equipment and building systems and ensure facilities are tidy and functional. Under the direction of the Director of Facilities, perform journeyman quality work in the maintenance, repair, construction, alteration, forming, framing and finishing of District buildings and facilities; remodeling and construction of buildings and equipment; performs other related duties as required. Being reliable with a keen eye for detail is the first step to getting this job. The ideal candidate will have experience and solid technical knowledge. You must also possess manual dexterity and physical stamina.

Pay Rate: $23.00 to $25.00 per hour.

Work Schedule: 7:30 AM. to 4:30 PM. Requires availability to work any day of the week including weekends. Requires availability to work day, evening, night. Overtime is available, but not mandatory.

Job Duties:

Perform minor fixes such as repairing broken locks, filling gaps on walls etc. Check control panels and electrical wiring to identify issues Install appliances and equipment Do garden/yard upkeep by mowing lawn, collecting trash etc. Conduct maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs Inspect and troubleshoot equipment and systems (e.g. ventilation) Check functionality of safety systems (e.g. fire alarm) Collaborate with workers and other professionals during renovations Report to a facilities or maintenance manager for issues Position requires a general knowledge of several related skill fields, such as plumbing, electrical, carpentry Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repairing on all type’s equipment. Install, adjust, repair and replace various building components such as casework, shelving, door and window hardware or ceiling tiles. Operate hand and power equipment such as saws, jointers, lathes, sanders, planers, boring and mortising machines and other tools typical for the trade Perform preventative maintenance and repair of general buildings and grounds May develop cost estimates for installation and repairs Operate a variety of hand, power, precision, and stationary shop tools and equipment Assist clients with fabrication and operation of experimental equipment and apparatus Operate machinery such as forklifts, scissor-lifts Load and unload materials and supplies Operate vehicles such as DISL vans and trucks to transport tools, equipment and personnel to various job sites Keep leads and supervisors informed of project status/work progress, and needed materials and equipment Know and comply with occupational health and safety regulations that apply to work actions and conduct on the job, including Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) instructions, and the use of personal protective equipment whenever required Follow all DISL policies and procedures Interact with clients, coworkers, management, staff and students in a courteous and professional manner, with particular attention to excellent customer service Actively participate in meetings and trainings as scheduled May instruct semiskilled workers Perform other duties as assigned Regular and predictable attendance is required.

Job Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent. Valid Driver’s License. Ability to read technical manuals and drawings.

Basic knowledge of carpentry with 3 to 5 years’ experience of general carpentry, finish carpentry, framing.

Experience using hand and electrical tools.  Ability to read technical manuals and drawings.

Computer skills needed for record keeping and communication. General knowledge of carpentry, electrical, plumbing and general maintenance. Requires a background check and drug test.

Must be able to work independently and without close supervision or with a team.

Very good communication and interpersonal skills. Physical stamina and dexterity

Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. Standing, lift overhead, squatting and ability to crawl in small spaces required. Work outdoors in various conditions including heat and humidity, rain, dust, noise, and cold.
